Valleyhead provides therapeutic and educational services to girls, ages twelve to twenty two with emotional and academic needs. Many of our students have been sexually and/or physically traumatized and their lives are often complicated by difficult family relationships, poor impulse control, drug and/or alcohol abuse, low self-esteem, or any of a number of other manifestations which limit their ability to live and learn in their families and schools. Often these girls demonstrate behaviors that fall into a wide range of diagnostic categories including mood, anxiety, psychotic and personality disorders. Cognitively, our girls vary in intelligence from below to above average.

Girls who come to Valleyhead are in need of a continuum of care that goes from a highly structured and restrictive environment, our Intensive Care Program, to one which helps foster independent, community-based living, our Basic Care Program.
